As a runner you should be very familiar with the wobbly feeling in your legs you get from fatigue or how you start to pant harder. This happens because your body is unable to push out all the carbon dioxide from your body and eliminate more lactic acid. Because of this, your body cannot bring a significant quantity of fresh oxygen to supply your blood stream the energy it needs to perform. If you want to take your running or racing ability to the next level, set a new personal record, or to enjoy your running more, you need to take your breathing more seriously. That is what PowerLung is for.

WHAT IS POWERLUNG
PowerLung is a strength trainer designed to give your breathing muscles a workout just like using other forms of strength training for your muscles. PowerLung is not working on the lungs directly but the 12 muscles that are used to support your breathing.
By repeatedly working against a set resistance, muscles adapt and become stronger. PowerLung uses the same principle by focusing on your breathing. With stronger breathing muscles, you will be able to inhale more oxygen and exhale more carbon dioxide giving your body the boost it needs to fight fatigue.

HOW IT WORKS
PowerLung features two adjustable controls that work independently to set the level of resistance for inhale and exhale breathing independently. Just as you set weights to a specific level, that is how the controls work to set the resistance on PowerLung to get the same level of strength every time you train with it.
The higher you set the control, the more resistance to work against and the lower the control setting the less resistance. So you can vary your training for strength, power or endurance and vary it in conjunction with your training program and race or running strategy.
Simply inhale and exhale through the PowerLung using 3 sets of 10 breaths to train twice a day. That’s all it takes and all we ask is for 5 to 10 minutes of your time.
Within the first week you will start to feel the difference in your breathing. After 3 to 4 weeks of daily training with PowerLung, you will notice a significant difference in your performance beginning with reduced breathlessness. You’ll also begin to see the difference on your heart rate monitor. All from a simple 10 minute breathing program twice a day.

The original PowerLung was designed for personal use by Barry Jarvis, a man who suffered a heart attack putting an end to his racing career just after he had qualified to run the Boston Marathon. Barry put many years of his life into sports, racing and being active. When doctors told him that his limited breathing due to his stroke would prevent him from being active again, he refused to spend the rest of his life on pills and sitting on the couch. He wanted to return to his passion.
After much research, Barry developed the first PowerLung and put it to the test. Within weeks, he found himself going for extended walks and then jogging and finally back to running. All because PowerLung improved his breathing.
Many others have benefited from Barry’s creation and are enjoying the same benefits.
